Carlton W Hewitt was the son of  Milan B. Hewitt, who must have died shortly after Carlton was born, (d.1911). Milan B Hewitt was the brother of Florida E Hewitt who married James Ferris Kenyon. It is also pretty interesting that Florida was 12 years older than her brother Milan B. Carlton, her nephew was born the same year as her grandson, James W Kenyon (1910). Florida was about 28 years old when Horace J Kenyon was born, and Milan B was 59 years old when Carlton Waldron Hewitt was born. Carlton and James W also both died the same Year (2000).

All back of photo reads is "hewitt" If the photo, which is actually a postcard, dates 1873-74 It may be Melvin J and Milan B. Melvin J would be 13-14 & Milan B. 4-5 yrs old approx.
